The millimetre-wave work of Skyarna’s partners culminated in the design and build
of a 65 GHz transceiver and an 80 GHz receiver for broad band communications. The
65 GHz transceiver modulated a 16-QAM, 200 MHz baseband input on to a 2 GHz carrier
before frequency converting to 65 GHz and back to baseband. Skyarna partners designed
all of the IF, MMIC circuitry and multi-layer soft board packaging. The first of
the following list of publications gives many details of the MMICs and module design
used on the 65 GHz transceiver. Recent work has focused on E-band communications:
transceiver system design, MMIC using WIN and softboard packaging.
