Opto-electronic interface
Previous work conducted by Skyarna’s partners has either been for commercial customers
who have required confidentiality or has been for classified military projects. Consequently
information on this work has not been published. However, the projects have involved
the following:
- Design of a transimpedance amplifier for a 40 Gbps optical receiver. InP MMIC transimpedance
amplifiers were developed for use with photo-detector diodes. The amplifiers gave
>170 ohms transimpedance with <2.5 ps group delay an 0.3 dB peak to peak ripple from
dc to 45 GHz.
- Design of a transimpedance amplifier and D-type flip-flip pulse stretcher MMIC used
to detect as short as 5 ps zeros in a multi-level optical correlator signal. The
design used mixed signal circuit techniques on the GCS InP SHBT process. This first
pass design successfully de-risked the “DARPA hard” seedling contract.
- Design and fabrication of Divide-by-8 prescalar with multi-GHz clock rates using
the GCS high performance InP HBT process.
